L'Easy Mind System (EMS)
della FIFe, semplifica e sostituisce la combinazione di numeri e lettere
un tempo utilizzati per l'identificazione dei gatti. Nel vecchio codice
infatti l'identificazione non era sempre uniforme nelle razze, nell'EMS
invece lo è. Ad esempio un gatto nero, è sempre identificato dalla
lettera minuscola "n" indipendentemente dalla razza a cui
appartiene. Un gatto pointed, indipendentemente dalla razza, è sempre
identificato dal numero "33". La prima parte del codice EMS,
scritta in maiuscolo, indica la razza del gatto.
